Supportive Services Offered by AAAs
We all want to live long and healthy lives, which is especially important as we get older. The choices we make and the support we get have dramatic impact on our ability to age well. That’s where Area Agencies on Aging, also known as AAAs, come in. Whether it is a ride to a doctor’s appointment, personal care, help around the home, or a falls prevention assessment that helps us meet changing needs as we age, we could all use a little help to stay healthy and active. AAAs can connect older adults to an extra set of hands that can help them live long and stay strong.

Supportive Services for Older Adults
Curious about the types of services available through your local AAA? Most AAAs connect older adults to a range of supportive services, including transportation, personal care, chore services, home modification and so much more. Here are just a few examples:
- Need a ride to a medical appointment? Chances are that your local AAA can connect you to a local transportation provider that can help you get where you need to go.
- Need help with personal care? AAAs can connect older adults to aide services that can help with bathing, dressing, eating, getting in and out of bed or chair and toileting.
- Need some help around the house? Aides can perform tasks to help older adults maintain their household and daily living activities, such as meal preparation, light housekeeping, laundry and grocery shopping.
- Worried about having a fall in your home? AAAs offer falls assessments and can recommend home modifications such as grab bars and ramps, and other repairs customized just for you.
- Need help finding the services mentioned above? Your AAA’s case managers will assist you with accessing these services.
Additionally, AAAs also provide information referral to health and wellness programs, legal assistance, nutrition programs and caregiver supports available in your community.
