Sidewalk inaccessibility is a significant hurdle in first mile/last mile transit connections and navigating pedestrian infrastructure. This ATRC Office Hours will feature Eric Sinagra, CEO of pathVu. Eric will present on challenges in creating accessible pedestrian infrastructure, pathVu's research into sidewalk accessibility, and effective strategies for multimodal transportation.
Eric Sinagra is the CEO and Co-founder of pathVu, a company focused on making sidewalks more accessible and walkable for people with disabilities. Eric started pathVu in 2014 after receiving his Master’s in Rehabilitation Sciences from the University of Pittsburgh. His research at the University focused on investigating the effects of rough sidewalks on wheelchair users, which led to the development of an ASTM standard for the measurement of pathway roughness. Eric’s passion for sidewalk accessibility stems from his brother, Nick, and co-founder, Jon, who both use wheelchairs. Since starting pathVu, the company has mapped over 11,000 miles of sidewalks and 85,000 curb ramps in an effort to improve pedestrian accessibility.
The Accessible Transportation Resource Center (ATRC) Office Hours webinar series promotes accessible transportation strategies and facilitates conversations on accessibility. Each hour-long session consists of a presentation by experts on an accessible transportation topic followed by an opportunity for questions and discussion. ASL interpretation will be provided. For all other accessibility requests, please contact Grayson Lee at lee@ctaa.org by July 10, 2025.
